Lake Keowee
Lake Keowee is a pristine lake in Upstate South Carolina, which boasts breathtaking mountain views, beautiful waterfalls, and relaxing sunsets.
Located in the heart of the Palmetto state's foothills, Lake Keowee is a 18,372 acre man-made lake, developed by the Duke Power Company in the 70's. The lake has 300 miles of shoreline.
This lake is known for its Blue Ridge Mountain backdrop and crystal clear blue-green waters. Just downstream from Lake Jacassee, Lake Keowee sits south of the North Carolina state line. The lake is surrounded by numerous upscale waterfront communities. A variety of boat ramps and Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area provide access to the public.
Population rates have grown significantly since Lake Keowee was formed in the early 70's. Because of it's exceptionally clear blue waters and tremendous mountain views, this lake is a magnet for visitors, many of which soon become residents. If an occasional visit to the big city appeals to you, Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC are only about 2 hours away; if beaches are your preferred vacation venue, you can find wide stretches of SC, NC, and GA beaches within a few hours, as well. The area is also home to many successful business and industries, including several Fortune 500 companies such as Johnson Controls, Engelhard and of course Duke Energy.
