Abundant in these waters are largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegill bream, hybrid bass and walleyed pike. Lake Keowee Real Estate Market 

Since Duke Power only started developing land around Lake Keowee in the early 90's, the area is extremely progressive. It boasts many master-planned communities, including The Cliffs resort communities, which was named "the most comprehensive private membership in the world" by Resort Living magazine. 

Property values in the area are increasing on a yearly basis by about 33%; there is still plenty of undeveloped land.  

Characteristics: Lake Keowee is a pristine lake in Upstate South Carolina, which boasts breathtaking mountain views, beautiful waterfalls, and relaxing sunsets. Located in the heart of the Palmetto state's foothills, Lake Keowee is a 18,372 acre man-made lake, developed by the Duke Power Company in the 70's.  

This lake is known for its Blue Ridge Mountain backdrop and crystal clear waters. Just downstream from Lake Jacassee, Lake Keowee sits south of the North Carolina state line. The lake is surrounded by numerous upscale-gated communities. A variety of boat ramps and Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area provide access to the public.  

Population rates have grown significantly since Lake Keowee was formed in the early 70's. Property Tax
South Carolina counties, cities and school districts impose property taxes on real and personal property which are assessed and collected by local governments. Legal residences and up to five acres of surrounding land is assessed for market value at 4 percent plus a county millage rate (the state millage rate average is .250 mills) SC also allows a  $50,000 homestead exemption on the fair market value of a home for residents who are age 65 or older, totally and permanently disabled, or legally blind.

Under South Carolina's "property relief" law, homeowners may exempt from school property taxes from the first $100,000 of the value of their home.

All personal property, other than real estate, that have value, such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, boats and airplanes, as subject to personal property tax which is collected annually. The value of your vehicle is determined by the SC Department of Revenue and standards set by the auto industry. The value of your vehicle is multiplied by 10.5% to determine the assessed value of your vehicle. With proof of high milage, property tax on vehicles can be reduced. 

Vehicle registration fees for passenger cars is $24 every two years ($20 if you are 65 years or older; $22 for 64-year-olds) and can be paid when you pay your county property tax.

Property taxes for the prior year must be paid to the county treasurer no later than January 15.
